Tornante
from THE DOLOMITES COLLECTION

A tornante is a hairpin bend on a mountain road, a full reversal of direction that alpine roads use to climb in short distance. The SS241, the road that winds past Lago di Carezza, has several. This is one.Below the curve, a stream cuts through the forest. From the air, the two lines, road and water, run in opposite directions through the same stand of trees. The lake is out of frame. This is the road that takes you there.
